Better late than never: Offers pouring in

Posted Nov 26, 2002

One of the players that I couldn't understand why he didn't have more offers was Lovejoy's Mike Heard. Heard has a good frame at 6-3 and 215 pounds, and he is a true 4.5 player. He makes plays on the football field, and as late as the end of September, Heard only had a formal offer from Boston College. My how things can change quickly.

"I've gotten offers from Florida, Georgia, Ole Miss, Alabama, and Mississippi State in the past couple of weeks," said Heard. "They're all pretty even right now. I haven't set up any visits or anything yet. I'm just concentrating on the playoffs right now." Concentrating is a good word for what Lovejoy is doing as a team right now. Lovejoy beat a good Lowndes team 43-3 in the first round of the state playoffs on Friday, and they appear to be peaking at the right time.
